Vulnerable Road Users

Everyone has a right to travel safely on our roads – whether using a car, truck or motorbike, on a bicycle, on a horse or on foot.

Equally, everyone has responsibilities towards other road users – but drivers must take extra care around vulnerable road users, because (as highlighted by RoSPA) “a pedestrian, cyclist, motorcyclist or horse rider will always come off worse.” We are all vulnerable users from time to time, and effective training can help make the roads safer for us all.

This eLearning module takes approximately 30 minutes to complete and all training carried out is recorded. You will be provided with a detailed report, which demonstrates that you have a formal review process in place for your drivers.

The course includes:

  • Who vulnerable road users are
  • Key legislation covering vulnerable road users
  • The impacts of speeding
  • Driving conditions and safe driving
  • Fleet safety

Course Objective

By the end of the session, learners will be able to demonstrate an awareness of who is a vulnerable road user, the law regarding safety of all road users and the impact that speed has on vulnerable road users. The learner will also have an understanding of safety measures in place to protect vulnerable road users.
