Job Title: HGV Class 1 Day Driver (Portsmouth)

Type: Temporary 

Pay Rate: £16.95 – £20.50 per hour

Location: Portsmouth

Start Date: Immediate

Are you an experienced Class 1 Day Driver with an HGV/LGV Category C+E licence? We are recruiting for a well-established customer in Portsmouth, being responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of temperature-controlled/food distribution operations.

Requirements:

• Valid HGV Class 1 (Category CE) licence.
• Valid Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card.
• Previous Class 1 driving experience, ideally within temperature-controlled or food distribution operations.
• Good understanding of driver hours, working time regulations, and road transport legislation.
• Strong commitment to safety, compliance, and maintaining product integrity.
• Flexible and reliable with a strong work ethic.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safely operate Class 1 refrigerated vehicles delivering chilled and temperature-controlled products throughout the UK.
• Ensure all loads are transported in accordance with temperature control requirements and company procedures.
• Complete deliveries and collections to distribution centres, food manufacturers, retailers, and customer sites while providing excellent customer service.
• Carry out daily vehicle and trailer checks, reporting defects promptly.
• Monitor and maintain temperature records where required, ensuring product quality is protected throughout the journey.
• Ensure all loads are secured correctly and transported safely.
• Complete delivery documentation, PODs, defect reports, and other transport paperwork accurately.
• Adhere to driver hours legislation, working time regulations, and company health and safety policies.
• Maintain regular communication with the transport office regarding route progress, delays, or operational issues.
• Represent Ferryspeed professionally at all times and uphold the company’s reputation for reliability and service excellence.
