Job Title: HGV Class 1 Day Driver (Portsmouth)
Type: Temporary
Pay Rate: £20.50 per hour
Location: Portsmouth
Start Date: Immediate
We’re recruiting for a well-established customer in Portsmouth, being responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of temperature-controlled/food distribution operations.
Requirements:
- Valid HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) licence with a clean driving record
- Valid CPC and Tacho Card
- Previous Class 1 driving experience, ideally within temperature-controlled or food distribution operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate Class 1 refrigerated vehicles delivering chilled and temperature-controlled products throughout the UK.
- Ensure all loads are transported in accordance with temperature control requirements and company procedures.
- Complete deliveries and collections to distribution centres, food manufacturers, retailers, and customer sites while providing excellent customer service.
- Carry out daily vehicle and trailer checks, reporting defects promptly.
- Monitor and maintain temperature records where required, ensuring product quality is protected throughout the journey.
- Ensure all loads are secured correctly and transported safely.
- Complete delivery documentation, PODs, defect reports, and other transport paperwork accurately.
- Adhere to driver hours legislation, working time regulations, and company health and safety policies.
- Maintain regular communication with the transport office regarding route progress, delays, or operational issues.
