A licence to chill at Truckfest Scotland!

Driver Hire enjoyed a fun-filled weekend at Scotland’s best trucking event, Truckfest! Celebrating 40 years of events, it was Truckfest’s busiest yet, demonstrating its growth in popularity over the years – they just keep getting bigger and better.

Todd Dewey breaks the ice with team Driver Hire!

Colleagues and their families came along from Driver Hire Borders, Edinburgh City, Edinburgh West, Fife, Grangemouth, Motherwell and Newcastle to catch-up and socialise with customers and drivers, past and present, on our exhibitors stand – even Todd Dewey, Ice Road Trucker, made an appearance and popped over to say hello!

Rachael McWilliams (Operations Director of Wilson Gibb Management Services (WGMS) who own the Driver Hire franchises in attendance) said, “Truckfest is just a fantastic event for all the family. This was my nineteenth year attending and what was more evident this time around was that close friendships have been formed in our client’s workplaces where we have placed multiple candidates – they’re now going to social events like Truckfest together and this was really fantastic to see.”

Adding comment on the event’s popularity, she said, “it had to be the busiest yet. The stand was never quiet and we spoke to many drivers interested in work or Driver CPC training”.

Driver Hire invited friends from SERA charity to share the stand, and although they had only just got back from delivering vital equipment to Ukraine, their team were eager to join in on the action. On display was a donated fire engine, next on the list to be refurbished and used to transport more essentials to Ukraine.

Anyone was allowed to hop in to the truck and try on a uniform and helmet, which certainly drew in the crowds (and it wasn’t just the kids that were having a go!)

As Driver Hire were also sponsors of the “Best Kept – Company Owned Truck” award, Rachael presented the winner on Sunday which we can reveal went to to R19 WHM, WH Malcolm (pictured).

Truckfest Scotland 2022 was held at the Royal Highland Showground in Edinburgh on 6 & 7 August.
