Truckfest Scotland – buzzing to be back!

After last year’s devastating cancellation of events due to the coronavirus pandemic, Driver Hire were delighted to hear that the action-packed Truckfest shows were back on the agenda for 2021.

Eager to get back to the Scotland festival in particular were colleagues from Driver Hire Edinburgh West, Edinburgh City, Borders and Motherwell.

After a long wait and much anticipation, the event was finally held last weekend (18 & 19 September) at the Royal Highland Showground, Edinburgh. It did not disappoint.

The sun was shining and the turnout was incredible. There were bustling crowds, sounds of chatter, roaring engines, music, and scenes of smiling faces from our friends, customers and drivers – some who we haven’t had the opportunity to talk to, face to face, in over 18 months.

Commenting on the festival’s atmosphere, Rachael McWilliams (Operations Director of Wilson Gibb Management Services (WGMS) who own the Driver Hire franchises in attendance) said, “This is my eighteenth Truckfest in Scotland and it has to be the busiest on record! It was so good to feel that much missed buzz of show showground – the chatter, the engines, airhorns – and those monster trucks!”

As well as providing action-packed, family-friendly entertainment, the festivals also hold a number of competitions in which WGMS sponsored the award for ‘Best Kept Company Owned Truck’.
