Hours: Monday–Friday | 06:00 starts | 10–12 hour shifts
Initial Pay: £17.00–£19.05 per hour (PAYE) | Weekly pay | Minimum 8 hours paid daily
Permanent Salary: £40,750 per annum after 5 weeks

Driver Hire Canterbury is seeking a reliable, experienced HGV Class 1 (C+E) Driver for a temp-to-perm opportunity with our client based in Canterbury.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to secure permanent employment. You will initially work for Driver Hire for 5 weeks, before transferring directly to our customer’s employment, subject to successfully completing the initial period.

The role involves transporting steel products on a flatbed vehicle, with all loads secured using chains and straps.

The Role

• Transport steel from Canterbury to sites across the South
• Operate a flatbed vehicle safely and professionally
• Secure all loads using chains and straps
• Work Monday to Friday — no weekend work
• Typical shifts of 10–12 hours, starting at 06:00
• Complete an initial 5-week period employed by Driver Hire before transitioning to permanent employment with the customer

What We Offer

During your initial 5 weeks with Driver Hire:

• £17.00–£19.05 per hour (PAYE)
• Weekly pay every Friday

On joining the customer permanently after 5 weeks:

• Annual salary of £40,750
• 47.5 hours per week
• 20 days’ annual holiday, increasing to 25 days after 2 years’ service

What You’ll Need

• Valid C+E (Class 1) licence held for at least 2 years
• Minimum 60 days of recent commercial Class 1 experience
• Confidence using chains and straps to secure loads
• A professional, reliable and safety-focused attitude
