Eager not to be outdone by the Women’s World Cup, Driver Hire’s second annual charity football match delivered a great result – both financially and in entertainment – whilst raising over £5,000 for Driver Hire’s Benevolent Fund.
Organised by Driver Hire Gatwick and supported by fellow franchisees, Group Services staff along with friends and families, the match featured a Driver Hire X1, selected largely from players in the office network, against a FC DHGS United squad comprising players from Driver Hire Group Services. FC DHGS United ran out winners by a three-goal margin.
The Driver Hire Benevolent fund helps people in the Driver Hire family who have faced bereavement, accidents or serious illness. It’s supported many drivers and office staff through difficult and sometimes tragic times. Around £50,000 in awards has been made since the fund was established in 2005.
Commenting on the result, Chris Chidley, Driver Hire’s Chief Executive said: “We’d set ourselves a £5,000 target – that’s £1,500 more than last year. To beat our target was a superb result for an excellent charity.”
