Driver Hire support National Lorry Week

Driver Hire is once again supporting National Lorry Week (16-22 November). Now into its 6th year, National Lorry Week celebrates the role that lorries play in our everyday lives – as well as the people who drive them and everyone who makes logistics possible.

It’s a role that can be overlooked, so in this year above all others, we are proud to be part of the industry that has kept our country moving during the Covid-19 crisis.

“The lorry is such a familiar sight for all of us, whenever we’re out and about, that we sometimes forget the massive contribution goods vehicles and their drivers make to the UK economy. We’ve been left in no doubt this year that without the lorry, supermarket shelves would be empty and vital industries and services would quickly grind to a halt,” says Simon Johnston, Network Development Director, Driver Hire.

National Lorry Week is organised by the RHA and gets bigger and better each year. Driver Hire has supported the event for a number of years. Logistics is the UK’s fifth largest industry, worth £124bn to the UK economy according to the RHA. It also offers a fantastic range of career options for anyone thinking about their future. As we like to say at Driver Hire, it is “Much More Than Driving”.

In support of the week-long campaign, Driver Hire has been talking to a number of offices within the network about their own drivers and colleagues, so they too can raise awareness of the great contributions that drivers are making to our industry. Visit our dedicated National Lorry Week pages to find out more about Richard, Mohammad and Charlie – just three examples of of great drivers within the network.

You can visit the National Lorry Week website (or www.driverhire.co.uk of course!) to find out more about careers in logistics. You can also take a look at our resource section – or to take part, follow @DriverHire on twitter and tell us why you #LoveTheLorry during #NationalLorryWeek.
