I bought the franchise

I came to the UK from Greece in 1996 when I was 15, without knowing a word of English. I chose to pursue a career in recruitment and I had always wanted to own my own business. Driver Hire offered me that chance. I joined in 2003 and by 2007 had worked my way up to branch manager within Driver Hire’s managed network. In 2012, when the opportunity came along, I bought the franchise.

We’re all in it together

You can call on people for support and advice, but even as a manager, Driver Hire gives you the authority to run the business as your own. There are four of us in my office now and we’re all in it together. It’s a team environment and we are all able to step into each other’s shoes should we need to. All of the people I’ve recruited have been raw from college. While recruitment or logistics experience is a bonus, it’s not a necessity. What really drives success is the passion and entrepreneurial spirit many of our employees have.

Business strength

We’ve recently moved into a new office and were able to buy the building. My real hope is that one day the people that I have employed will step up and buy the business from me. That would be incredibly satisfying. It’s financially very rewarding and a really strong business. If you put in the work, the results will come.
