Job Title: HGV Class 2 Driver (Builders Merchant)

Type: Temporary to Permanent

Pay Rate: £38,000 per annum

Location: Portsmouth 

Start Date: Immediate

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Class 2 (Cat C) Driver to join a well-established builders merchant based in Portsmouth.

This is a fantastic temp-to-perm opportunity for the right candidate, delivering building materials to customers across Portsmouth and the surrounding areas. If you’re an experienced Class 2 driver looking for a long-term position with the opportunity to become permanent, we’d love to hear from you!

Requirements:

• Valid Class 2 (HGV/LGV, Category C) driving licence
• Valid CPC and Tacho Card
• Previous commercial driving experience
• Experience delivering building materials, builders merchant products or similar would be advantageous
• Good knowledge of Portsmouth and surrounding areas
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Physically fit, as some manual handling will be involved
• A professional and reliable approach to work

Key Responsibilities:

• Safely load, transport and deliver building materials to customers
• Carry out deliveries to building sites, trade customers and private customers
• Assist with loading and unloading goods where required
• Complete vehicle checks and ensure the vehicle is operated safely at all times
• Provide excellent customer service when making deliveries
• Follow all relevant company and road safety procedures
• Work efficiently to meet scheduled delivery times
