Tour de Force

With the Tour de France in full swing across the Channel, Driver Hire took the opportunity to help with a UK-based cycling challenge – the 1000km, 4-day, Tour d’Alliance. Driver Hire was one of the main sponsors, with its familiar logo featuring on the riders’ cycling tops.

The Tour d’Alliance is an annual charity event organised by customers, Alliance Healthcare. Two teams of Alliance Healthcare colleagues took part, one team heading south from Coatbridge in Scotland and another team heading north from their ‘Grand Depart’ in Exeter Devon. The finish line was at Alliance’s Manchester Service Centre. In addition, a further 16 riders collectively covered the same distance over 7 days in a virtual challenge on static training bikes.

The road team faced a bit of battering from serious head winds ‘up north’ whilst the southern contingent had sweltering heat to contend with. However, tired legs and aching backs soon felt a little less sore when the riders learnt that their efforts had raised £40,000 for two excellent children’s charities – Vitamin Angels UK and the Theodora Children’s Charity.

Imran Manzoor from Driver Hire’s National Accounts team was on hand to welcome the riders in Manchester. “Congratulations to all the riders who’ve completed this incredible challenge which has achieved such a fantastic financial result. Driver Hire is delighted to be a supporter of this amazing annual event.”
