Liverpool Conference provides ‘Opportunity’ to celebrate success

Driver Hire’s 2023 annual conference – held in the splendid surroundings of the Hilton Hotel, Liverpool – was a perfect opportunity to mark the achievements of its top performing and long-standing franchisees as well as celebrating an all-time record year for the business as a whole.

Leading the way was Grant Wilson, owner of Driver Hire’s Aberdeen office, crowned ‘Franchisee of the Year’. Other top award winners included: Connor Ferguson (Plymouth), Becca Todd (Edinburgh City), Tom Williams (Torbay) and John Murdoch (Southampton).

In addition, sixteen franchisees collected awards for reaching annual turnover milestones – seven of which were in excess of £2m. And finally, four franchisees celebrated long-term partnerships with Driver Hire, ranging from ten to thirty years.

The primary focus of the event, however, was in looking forward. Thanks to new digital tools, combined with a change in the rules around right to work checks, Driver Hire has a new opportunity to recruit candidates and win new business across a far bigger geographical footprint than ever before.

The Conference’s keynote speaker was business mentor, writer and consultant, Dulcie Swanston. She used the event’s ‘Opportunity’ theme to help delegates gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their team, encouraging them to grab the opportunities that lead to greater business success.

Triple Olympic gold medal winner, Ed Clancy OBE, reflected on the British Cycling regime that delivered such outstanding sporting success. Recruitment industry insight was provided by Keith Rosser chair of the Better Hiring Institute.

Driver Hire Chief Executive Chris Chidley was also on hand to review a record-breaking year for our business and look at the opportunities for further growth in the year ahead.
