Night Shift Transport Controller
Pay rate: £21.49 per hour
Contract Type: Temporary to Permanent

We are looking for Night Shift Transport Controller to start ASAP for our growing client base across the IP postcode, with all the support from our experienced Driver Hire team in Bury St Edmunds.
The successful Night Shift Transport Controller will receive:
£21.49 per hour

What to expect as a Night Shift Transport Controller:
The role requires a Transport Manager CPC qualification & strong operational judgement. Working hours are 9pm – 5am.
Allocate vehicles and drivers to scheduled routes, ensuring compliance with driver hours, tachograph regulations, and Working Time Directive.
Monitor live transport activity throughout the night, adjusting plans proactively to manage delays, breakdowns, or customer changes.
Ensure all loads are dispatched accurately, safely, and on time.
Maintain real time communication with drivers, providing instructions, updates, and support.
Apply Transport Manager CPC knowledge to ensure all night operations meet legal and company standards.
Conduct checks on driver documentation, vehicle defects, and compliance reports.
Handle performance issues, conduct briefings, and provide guidance to staff.
Manage driver start times, breaks, and shift adherence.
Respond to unexpected issues such as vehicle breakdowns, route disruptions, or staffing shortages.
Liaise with maintenance providers, other sites, and customers to keep operations running smoothly.
Make confident decisions under pressure to protect service levels and customer commitments.
Use operating transport management systems to update job statuses, driver information, and route progress.
Produce accurate overnight reports for the day team, including incidents, delays, and KPI performance.
Maintain records of vehicle defects, driver hours, and operational changes.
As a Night Shift Transport Controller you must:
Transport Manager CPC qualification (mandatory).
Experience in transport planning, fleet coordination, or logistics control.
Strong people management and communication skills.
Ability to make confident decisions independently during night operations.
Knowledge of UK transport legislation, driver hours, and compliance standards.
Comfortable working night shifts in a fast paced environment..
