Driver Hire Edinburgh City are currently recruiting an experienced HGV Class 2 Skip Driver to join a well-established waste management and recycling company based in East Lothian.
This is a great opportunity for a reliable driver looking for full-time, Monday to Friday work with guaranteed hours and the potential to secure a permanent position.
🚛 The Role
As a Class 2 Skip Driver, you’ll be responsible for the safe delivery, exchange and collection of skips for both commercial and domestic customers.
Your duties will include:
- Safely operating a Class 2 skip vehicle
- Delivering, exchanging and collecting skips
- Working across East Lothian and the surrounding areas
- Carrying out daily vehicle safety checks and reporting defects
- Ensuring skips and loads are handled and transported safely
- Following company procedures and health & safety requirements
- Providing a professional and friendly service to customers
- Maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism
🕒 Working Hours
- Monday to Friday
- 6:15am start
- Minimum 40 hours per week guaranteed
- Overtime opportunities available
- Temp-to-perm opportunity for the right candidate
💷 Pay Rates
PAYE
- £15.00 per hour
- £19.99 per hour after 8 hours
PAYE Advanced
- £16.81 per hour
- £22.40 per hour after 8 hours

✅ What We’re Looking For
- Valid UK Class 2 (Category C) licence
- Valid Driver CPC qualification
- Valid Digital Tachograph Card
- Previous skip, waste or Class 2 driving experience is advantageous
- Good understanding of safe working practices
- Reliable, punctual and professional
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Comfortable working outdoors and in a hands-on environment
