Job Specification
As a Class 2 Tanker Driver, you will be responsible for the safe operation of a tanker vehicle in accordance with DVSA and HSE regulations. The role involves the removal and disposal of waste, delivery of non-potable water, servicing customer welfare units and portable toilets, and maintaining high standards of customer service at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
- Planning, organising and managing your daily workload to ensure all scheduled work is completed efficiently and safely.
- Operating a Class 2 tanker vehicle in compliance with all transport legislation and company procedures.
- Emptying customer effluent tanks, portable toilets and welfare units.
- Cleaning and refilling welfare units and portable toilets with chemicals and replenishing toilet rolls where required.
- Delivering non-potable water to customer sites.
- Removing and disposing of various waste streams, including drilling waste, soil engineering waste and interceptor waste, in accordance with EWC regulations and company procedures.
- Completing all relevant waste transfer documentation and maintaining accurate records.
- Using a Big Change tablet to record job details, capture verification photographs and obtain customer signatures.
- Reporting any changes to scheduled jobs, additional waste volumes or water requirements to Tanker Services.
- Carrying out daily vehicle inspections and ensuring the tanker remains roadworthy and compliant.
- Maintaining tanker equipment, pumps, hoses and tools, reporting defects and carrying out minor repairs where appropriate.
- Ensuring all hydraulic fluids, filters and pumping equipment are maintained and cleaned as required.
- Delivering and collecting vehicles for routine servicing and maintenance appointments.
- Adhering to all customer and company Health & Safety procedures while working on-site.
- Supporting workshop and depot activities as required.
- Identifying potential business opportunities and promoting Tanker Services to customers on-site.
- Working occasional weekends, bank holidays, overtime shifts and nights away from home when required by the business.
What You Need
- Current and valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence.
- Minimum of 1 year HGV driving experience.
- Valid Driver CPC qualification.
- Digital Tachograph Card.
- Clean UK driving licence preferred.
- Experience operating tanker vehicles is advantageous, although training may be provided for suitable candidates.
- Strong understanding of transport legislation, health and safety requirements and vehicle compliance.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good geographical knowledge of London and surrounding areas.
- Reliable, punctual and professional approach to work.
- Own transport to travel to and from the depot.
