Driver Hire Darlington are currently recruiting an experienced Class 2 (Cat C) Driver for ongoing work with a local builders merchant in the Darlington area.
This is a fantastic opportunity for Class 2 Drivers who are confident delivering construction materials and enjoy a mix of driving, customer interaction, and hands-on work.
The Role for a Class 2 Driver:
- Delivering building materials (timber, bricks, bags, and general merchant goods) to trade and residential customers
- Typically 8–12 drops per day within the local region
- Use of curtain sider or flatbed vehicle
- Some deliveries may require manual handling where offload support is limited
- Working alongside yard staff and assisting with loading where required
- Providing a professional and helpful service to customers on site
Shift Details for a Class 2 Driver:
- Monday to Friday
- Start times typically between 06:30 – 07:30
- Average shift length: 8–10 hours
- Occasional Saturday shifts available depending on workload
Requirements for a Class 2 Driver:
- Valid Class 2 (Cat C) licence
- Valid CPC and Digital Tachograph card
- Previous experience in a builders merchant or similar environment preferred
- Comfortable with heavy lifting and manual handling
- A positive attitude and good customer service skills
- HIAB licence advantageous (but not essential)
