Driver Hire is proud to support the Road Haulage Association’s (RHA) eleventh annual National Lorry Week, taking place from 3rd – 9th November 2025 with a powerful message: road haulage is the lifeblood of everyday life.
This year’s campaign shines a spotlight on the vital role the logistics industry plays in keeping the UK moving – from delivering food and medicine to powering businesses and communities. Focusing on skills and careers, National Lorry Week 2025 aims to inspire the next generation of drivers and logistics professionals.
As part of the celebrations, the RHA is touring the UK with its branded National Lorry Week truck, a state-of-the-art truck driving simulator and an experienced instructor, Paul Allera (RHA Technical Director) It’s Paul’s job to help drivers navigate a virtual 44-tonne artic around a series of urban streets with a variety of tests.
As a key National Lorry Week sponsor, Driver Hire was thrilled to be one of the venues on the simulator’s nationwide tour. “We’re delighted to bring this immersive experience to our Bradford head office,” says Richard Owen-Hughes, Driver Hire’s Group Marketing Director. “The simulator gives a first-hand insight into the skill, responsibility, and professionalism required to be a truck driver. Everyone who drove has a new appreciation and respect for the people who keep our supply chains running. It helps our team truly understand the challenges and expertise involved in professional driving.”
To add some additional fun to the day, there was a friendly competition to see who was Driver Hire’s best virtual truck driver. The champion was National Sales Executive, Jordan Lenga with a 100% safety record and just one fault. “It showed me just how hard it is to drive an articulated lorry,” says Jordan. “There are so many things to look out for. It all adds up to lots of mental pressure. It certainly changed my perspective and respect for truck drivers who are doing this for real every day of the week.”
Driver Hire has been a core sponsor of National Lorry Week for several years and continues to champion the industry’s contribution to society. From matching skilled drivers to essential roles, to advocating for better working conditions and career development, Driver Hire remains committed to supporting the people who keep Britain moving.
