Driver Hire is now covering Stranraer and surrounding areas. The man behind the move is Matthew McClymont, owner of Driver Hire’s Ayrshire & Dumfries franchise.
Matthew bought the Ayrshire & Dumfries franchise in 2024. Over the past two years the business has grown substantially. Turnover for the recently completed financial year was £1.3m up 8% year-on-year. “It’s all about delivering great value and service,” says Matthew. “When we supply drivers and other staff, our aim is to provide a cost-effective staffing solution for our client. We’re looking to transfer the success we’ve had in Ayrshire & Dumfries to Stranraer.”
In addition to Stranraer, Matthew’s new office will cover: Newton Stuart, Girvin and Glenluce. First point of contact for Driver Hire Stranraer is Mark McTaggart.
Driver Hire provides temporary and permanent drivers and other logistics staff to local and national organisations in both the public and private sector. If they’re short of staff – perhaps because of illness, holidays or seasonal demand – Driver Hire will supply them with a suitable replacement.
“Geographically this area was too difficult to be covered by either Ayrshire or Dumfries so, for us, it’s very much new territory,” Matthew continues. “There’s clearly demand for our services because we’ve got off to a flying start, quickly attracting a new client. We’re really looking forward to meeting the staffing needs of local businesses and organisations right across our new Stranraer territory.”
