HGV Refuse Driver – Temp to Perm

Location: Epping, Essex
Pay: £16.00–£17.93 per hour during the first 12 weeks
Permanent Salary: £48,000 per annum
Contract: Temp to Perm – 12 weeks

We are currently recruiting an experienced HGV Refuse Driver to join our client’s team based in Epping. This is an excellent opportunity for a reliable and hardworking driver looking for a long-term, permanent position, with the potential to earn £48,000 per year after successfully completing the initial 12-week temp-to-perm period.

The Role

• Driving an HGV refuse collection vehicle, collecting domestic waste bins.
• Completing approximately 80–100 domestic bin collections per shift.
• All collections are within the same local area, keeping routes manageable.
• Working on a rotating shift pattern.
• Working Monday to Friday during the initial 12-week temporary period.
• Following successful completion of the 12 weeks, transferring to a permanent contract and working 1 in 3 Saturdays.

Shift Patterns

The role operates on a rotating shift pattern as follows:

• Shift 1: 03:00 – 12:00
• Shift 2: 03:00 – 12:00
• Shift 3: 12:00 – 21:00

The shifts rotate in this sequence, with two early shifts followed by one late shift, before repeating. For example: 03:00–12:00, 03:00–12:00, 12:00–21:00, then repeat.

Pay & Benefits

• £16.00–£17.93 per hour during the initial 12-week temporary period.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year’s HGV driving experience.
• Valid HGV licence.
• Reliable, punctual and professional attitude.
• Comfortable with physical, hands-on work alongside refuse collection duties.
• Ability to work the rotating shift pattern and, once permanent, 1 in 3 Saturdays.
