🚛 Class 1 Shunter Driver – Tug Experience Required

Driver Hire Blackburn are currently recruiting for an experienced Class 1 Shunter Driver to join our client’s operation on a temporary basis, with ongoing work available for the right driver.

This role is ideal for an experienced HGV Class 1 Driver / Shunter Driver who has previous experience working in a busy yard environment and, importantly, has experience using yard shunting tugs.

The Role

As a Class 1 Shunter Driver, your main responsibilities will include:

• Moving trailers safely around the site and yard
• Shunting trailers between loading bays and designated areas
• Using shunting tugs to move trailers efficiently
• Coupling and uncoupling trailers
• Completing trailer and vehicle checks
• Positioning trailers accurately at loading bays
• Working safely within a busy yard environment
• Communicating effectively with the warehouse and transport teams
• Following all site health & safety procedures

Shift Pattern

The role operates across three rotating shift times:

06:00am starts – Days
14:00pm starts – Days
22:00pm starts – Nights

Pay Rates

• £15.25 per hour – Day Shifts
• £16.25 per hour – Night Shifts

Requirements

To be considered for this Class 1 Shunter Driver position, you must have previous shunting experience.

In particular, you will need:

• A valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence
• Previous Class 1 shunting experience
• Previous experience using shunting tugs is essential
• Experience coupling and uncoupling trailers
• Good understanding of yard safety procedures
• Reliable and professional approach to work
• Good communication skills
