HGV Class 2 HIAB Driver

Ongoing Builder’s Merchant Cover | Blackburn & Surrounding Areas

£16.00 per hour | Overtime £24.00 per hour | Weekly Pay

Driver Hire Blackburn is recruiting for experienced Class 2 HIAB Drivers to provide ongoing cover for a number of leading builder’s merchants across Blackburn, Burnley, Accrington, Preston, and the surrounding Lancashire area.

This role offers regular work covering holidays, sickness, increased seasonal demand, and additional contract requirements. Successful drivers will have the opportunity to work with well-established merchants delivering building materials to both commercial and residential customers.

The Role

As a Class 2 HIAB Driver, you will be responsible for the safe delivery of building materials, timber, aggregates, and merchant stock using vehicle-mounted crane equipment.

Typical duties include:

• Operating a Class 2 (Category C) vehicle.
• Delivering building materials to construction sites, businesses, and residential properties.
• Safely operating HIAB crane equipment.
• Conducting daily vehicle checks and defect reporting.
• Ensuring loads are secured correctly and delivered safely.
• Completing delivery paperwork and electronic POD systems where required.
• Providing excellent customer service at delivery locations.
• Adhering to all driver hours, Working Time Directive, and road transport legislation.

What We’re Looking For

Essential Requirements

• Valid Class 2 (Category C) Licence.
• Valid CPC Qualification Card.
• Digital Tachograph Card.
• Accredited HIAB Certificate (Brick Grab preferred).
• Previous HIAB delivery experience.
• Good understanding of safe load handling procedures.
• Professional and customer-focused attitude.

Desirable

• Experience working within a builder’s merchant environment.
• Remote Grab experience.
• Multi-drop delivery experience.

Pay & Benefits
