Council leader welcomes Scottish office move

Driver Hire Borders has moved to new premises at Wilderhaugh Business Centre, Galashiels. As manager, Viki Carruthers, explains, the move is a sign of both the recruiter’s strength and its commitment to local commerce. “Essentially, we’re a recruitment hub for the area. We’ve been supplying staff to local businesses for two decades. Our round-the-clock service finds workers that meet client needs whether it’s short-term – to cover for holidays or illness – or for longer-term hires. Our candidates often find that covering a role on a temporary basis can lead to being offered a permanent position.”

Cutting the ribbon to open Driver Hire’s new recruitment hub was Conservative Councillor, Euan Jardine, Leader of the Scottish Borders Council. He commented: “It was a pleasure to visit Driver Hire Borders in their new Galashiels office. This move is a strong vote of confidence in our town and a clear commitment to supporting local jobs and local businesses. Driver Hire Borders are helping people into secure, long-term employment, whilst also offering flexible options where that suits, providing local employers with responsive, professional recruitment support.”

Also at the official opening was long-serving HGV driver Alan Gerner. He’s clocked up nearly 20 years with Driver Hire, both at Borders and at Driver Hire’s offices in Edinburgh. “Viki and the Driver Hire Borders’ office team are very professional and always have our interests at heart, so why would I want to go anywhere else,” Alan commented

Driver Hire Borders is owned by Wilson Gibb Management Services Ltd (WGMS). WGMS operates Driver Hire offices in Edinburgh, Fife, Grangemouth, Motherwell, the Borders and Newcastle. It’s enjoyed a partnership with Driver Hire extending well over 30 years.
