Clean Air Zones

There’s a clear need to improve air quality in our cities. Clean Air Zones are being introduced around the UK as one way to persuade us to travel greener. But the cost implications for transport operators are significant, and some argue that CAZs have not been properly thought through.

Road Pricing
Electric vehicles pay much less road tax, with battery electric vehicles (BEVs) paying zero vehicle excise duty. The growing number of EVs grows means a big drop in revenue for the Government. “Pay per mile” road pricing is one solution.

Traffic Cameras
Opinions vary on whether speed cameras are a good thing. But the technology could easily be used to check that passing vehicles are properly taxed and insured. Uninsured drivers cause higher premiums for the rest of us.
