A very well established and renowned Leeds based courier company is searching for a full time Transport Manager/Controller.  They are a family run business who provide a first class same day, overnight and international parcel delivery service. Applicants should have some experience in this sector, preferably within an office environment and you will also need to have a good level of numeracy and literacy skills as well as an eye for detail and a good geographical knowledge of the UK.

The role:

Hours Of Work – 8.30am – 17.30

The main duties of the role are as follows…

1) The opening and closing of the office, including alarming and securing the site.

2) The quoting, booking, planning and allocation of same day, overnight and international parcel deliveries. The bookings are made by phone or email and are usually for deliveries within mainland UK.

3) The handling of customer queries or issues, demonstrating excellent customer service levels.

4) Management of drivers – good communication skills will be required.

5) Ensuring vehicle checks are carried out by drivers.

6) The filing of all relevant paperwork (vehicle check sheets, PODS etc.)

7) Intermittent requests & tasks such as gaining quotes for van repairs and ordering PPE or office equipment.
