About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Transport Manager to oversee and manage daily transport operations, ensuring full compliance with UK transport legislation while delivering a safe, efficient, and cost-effective service. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing drivers, vehicles, and transport performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day transport operations and delivery schedules
- Ensure full compliance with DVSA regulations, Operator Licence requirements, and company policies
- Oversee fleet maintenance, vehicle inspections, MOTs, and servicing schedules
- Manage driver recruitment, training, performance, and disciplinary processes
- Monitor driver hours, tachographs, and Working Time Directive compliance
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and infringements, implementing corrective actions
- Maintain accurate transport records, KPIs, and compliance documentation
- Liaise with internal teams, customers, suppliers, and external auditors
- Promote safe working practices, attain, and sustain high standards of H&S, hygiene, and security within the working environment
Skills & Experience
- CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) – essential
- Good understanding of Operator Licence responsibilities
- Proven experience in a Transport Manager or similar logistics role
- Strong knowledge of UK transport legislation and compliance
- Experience managing drivers and fleet operations
- Confident using transport management systems and MS Office
- Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills
