Job Title: HGV Class 1 Driver (Portsmouth)

Type: Temporary to Permanent

Pay Rate: From £15.50 per hour

Location: Portsmouth 

Start Date: Immediate

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a Portsmouth-based client for a Class 1 Driver join their specialist logistics operation, supporting continued growth within the business. Are you a skilled Class 1 Driver with an HGV/LGV Category C+E licence looking for a new opportunity? Then look no further!

Requirements:

• Valid LGV Class 1 (C+E) licence with a clean driving record
• Driver CPC and valid tachograph card
• Minimum of 3 years’ Class 1 driving experience
• Proven experience in commercial delivery driving, ideally with flatbed, step frame, or similar vehicles
• Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and compliance requirements
• Experience with load securing on flatbed or similar vehicles (desirable)
• Willingness to work nights out (average of 4 per week)
• Flexibility to work occasional weekends (1 in 4)
• Good organisational skills and ability to manage time and routes effectively
• Professional attitude and strong commitment to safety

Key Responsibilities: 

• Carry out pre-journey vehicle safety checks (brakes, tyres, lights, load security, etc.)
• Load and unload goods using appropriate equipment, ensuring all cargo is safely secured
• Deliver goods to designated locations on time, maintaining communication with dispatch teams
• Complete all relevant documentation, including delivery notes and vehicle logs
• Comply with driving hours, tachograph regulations, and all legal requirements
• Maintain a professional appearance and conduct when interacting with customers and colleagues
• Report any vehicle defects, issues, or incidents promptly
