Gully Tanker Driver

About the Role

We are currently seeking applications for a Gully Tanker Driver / Boom Arm Operator to join our team based in Lisburn/Ballynahinch on a temp – perm basis.

The successful candidate will be responsible for operating a gully tanker vehicle to carry out drain cleaning of sewers and stormwater systems. This role involves both driving duties and hands-on operational work, including the use of vacuum hoses and high-pressure jetting equipment to ensure roadside drains remain clear and fully operational.

This is a physically demanding role, requiring regular lifting of drain covers and working outdoors in all weather conditions. Full PPE will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive and operate a gully tanker vehicle safely and efficiently
• Carry out cleaning and maintenance of roadside drains and sewer systems
• Operate vacuum hoses and high-pressure water jetting equipment
• Perform daily pre-start vehicle inspections and report defects
• Follow all traffic laws and road safety regulations
• Maintain accurate records of work completed
• Communicate effectively with customers, the public, and team members
• Adhere to company policies, safety procedures, and operational protocols
• Work flexible hours, including early morning starts as required

Essential Criteria

• Valid Class 2 (Category C) driving licence
• Valid Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card
• Strong communication skills
• Excellent time management and ability to meet deadlines
• Commitment to health and safety standards
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Willingness to undertake physically demanding work

Desirable Criteria

• Experience operating commercial vehicles such as Jetvac or tanker units
• Valid CSR Card
• Experience in traffic management procedures
• Experience in:
  • High-pressure water jetting
  • Manual handling
  • First aid
  • Reversing assistant / banksman duties
