Class 2 Driver

Driver Hire Gloucester are recruiting for an experienced Class 2 Driver to join one of our established clients.

If you’re a professional driver who takes pride in doing a good job, enjoys dealing with customers and doesn’t mind getting stuck in, this could be a great opportunity.

The role

You’ll be responsible for delivering customer orders safely, professionally and on time and in full.

The role involves delivering kitchen units, worktops and associated materials, so there is some manual handling involved. You’ll be representing both our client and Driver Hire on the road and at customer sites, so a friendly and professional approach is essential.

What we’re looking for

• Class 2 (Cat C) driving licence
• Valid CPC and Digital Tachograph
• Good knowledge of drivers’ hours and Working Time Regulations
• Excellent timekeeping and a reliable attitude
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Able to work independently and deal with the occasional unexpected problem
• Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling of heavy/bulky items
• A positive attitude and willingness to get stuck in
• Good attention to detail
• Previous Class 2 delivery experience would be an advantage

The hours

The shift pattern is flexible, with typical starts around 4:30am.

There may also be a requirement for flexibility around weekends, evenings and holidays, depending on operational requirements.

What you’ll be doing

• Safely loading, unloading and delivering kitchen units, worktops and related materials
• Carrying out vehicle safety checks
• Completing delivery paperwork and daily records
• Ensuring deliveries are made on time and in full
• Dealing professionally with customers at delivery locations
• Reporting any delivery issues, shortages or problems
• Driving safely and efficiently at all times
• Complying with all relevant road traffic, tachograph, drivers’ hours and WTD legislation
