DRIVER SAVES THE DAY!
LOCAL DRIVER, NATIONAL HERO
Truckers and haulage personnel are the unsung heroes of the nation. Logistics is a round-the-clock operation – the beating heart of the UK economy.
While most of the population sleeps, the wheels of industry keep turning. From the coffee in your cup to the paper you’re holding right now, everything has spent time on the back of a truck – likely bundled into a van for that final mile to your door. Most of the time, this all goes unnoticed – until something goes wrong.
That’s exactly when Albert Dare stepped in and became a local hero in Happyville last month.
Albert, known to friends as ‘Albi’, is a local Driver Hire driver who worked for six different companies in just a few weeks – covering everything from unexpected deliveries and staff sickness to planned holidays and even other agency no-shows. With customers fuming over failed deliveries and empty supermarket shelves, the community quickly realised just how vital truckers really are.
Albi is registered with Driver Hire Nationwide, the UK’s largest specialist logistics recruiter.
A spokesperson for Driver Hire said:
“Albi’s a reliable, friendly, down-to-earth bloke and has been working with us for over five years. Everyone loves him. He does a fantastic job for us and our clients.”
Albi himself summed it up best: “Whenever they need me, I’ll be there. I just love it! I love meeting different people, the variety of work, and of course, doing a job that’s so important to keeping this country running.”
FLU WON’T STOP THE FREIGHT!
A local HGV driver, Connie Jestion, has been recovering at home after a bout of flu.

Connie works for a small haulage company with only four commercial drivers, so taking time off – whether for holiday or unexpected illness – weighs heavily on her mind, as she doesn’t like to let people down.
“The kids have just gone back to school and bugs have been going around. I had to call in sick and felt terrible about it, but I know the team will be okay because they’ve brought in support from Driver Hire.”
DELIVERY DRAMA
DERAILS HEIDI
It wasn’t all sunshine and roses for everyone in the community, as we found out from Heidi Manned.

Spotted lurking behind the celebrating crowd with a disgruntled look, Heidi refused to join in the local celebrations.
When asked why, she claimed a local business – unnamed for legal reasons – had repeatedly let her down with deliveries, now affecting her ability to serve her own clients.
When told the supplier was under strain due to high seasonal demand and staff shortages, she exclaimed, “No excuse! If they’d just hired a few extra drivers and other temps from Driver Hire to help them out, it wouldn’t have come to this.”
SUN, SAND & ZERO STRESS
THANKS TO DRIVER HIRE
While the wheels keep turning back home, Transport Manager Hal O’Day is soaking up the sun, fully switched off and stress-free – because Driver Hire has everything under control.
We caught up with Mr O’Day on a beach somewhere far from spreadsheets and shift rotas, where he was spotted lounging with his kids and a suspiciously untouched bucket and spade.
A local source told us, “Hal’s been using that recruitment agency for years. Reliable drivers, top-notch service, and they’re available 24/7. It’s not surprising he’s so chilled.”
When approached for comment, Hal didn’t even glance up from his book. Clearly too engrossed – or too relaxed – to entertain work talk, he simply muttered something about “chapter twelve” and waved us away with a sandy hand.
One thing’s for sure: with Driver Hire on the case, Hal’s biggest worry this week is whether he packed enough sun cream.
