Driver Hire staff show they’ve more than one string to their bow

Driver Hire staff weren’t just busy in June ensuring that they delivered the very best transport and logistics recruitment service. They also found time to do some volunteering work and raise money for charity.

Now into its third year, Driver Hire’s volunteering project works in partnership with Bradford Volunteering. They identify worthy local projects which would benefit from some free assistance. The line up for this year includes a couple of allotment challenges. But first up was a redecorating job at ‘The Vine’ community centre. Established in 1996, ‘The Vine’ is run by St Mary’s Church. The centre is used by people of all ages; from tots and toddlers, teenagers and more senior citizens.

The Driver Hire team redecorated three rooms, stripping wallpaper, painting walls and ceilings and putting a touch of shiny gloss to the windowsills.

Dave Forrest from Bradford Volunteers was delighted with the result as were the team who run ‘The Vine’. “Driver Hire’s hard work has really freshened the place up,” says Dave. “It’s great for the community that local businesses such as Driver Hire, are prepared to release staff to undertake projects like this.”

Meanwhile, a six person team led by Driver Hire board member, Paul Byrne, along with Twickenham franchisee, Bob McKinlay, along with staff from Driver Hire’s head office, took part in the British Heart Foundation (bhf) London-Brighton bike ride. The team covered the 53 miles in a little over three hours, raising over £300 for bhf in the process.
