Yard Operative (Counterbalance FLT)

Pay: £14.25 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 4:30pm (37.5 hours per week)
Contract: Temporary (2-6 months)
Pay: Weekly
Work Available: Ongoing with guaranteed weekly hours

We’re recruiting on behalf of a well-established client for a Yard Operative with a valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence to join their busy site in ME2.

This is a varied role where you’ll spend most of your time carrying out general yard duties, with some forklift work required to support stock movements and loading operations. If you’re looking for consistent, full-time work with weekly pay and guaranteed hours, we’d love to hear from you.

The Role

As a Yard Operative, you’ll be responsible for maintaining the smooth day-to-day operation of the yard, supporting deliveries, managing stock and assisting customers while working safely at all times.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely load and unload products and deliveries.
• Prepare, pack and load customer orders accurately.
• Operate a Counterbalance Forklift Truck to move stock as required.
• Receive and inspect incoming goods, reporting any damaged or missing items.
• Move, stack and store products safely throughout the yard.
• Carry out regular and accurate stock checks.
• Assist with stock transfers between storage locations.
• Load and unload wagons safely and efficiently.
• Ensure deliveries are correctly labelled with the appropriate paperwork.
• Keep the yard clean, organised and safe.
• Report equipment defects or safety concerns to the Branch Manager.
• Follow all company procedures and health & safety regulations.
• Wear the required PPE at all times.
• Work closely with colleagues to complete daily tasks efficiently.

What We’re Looking For

• Valid Counterbalance Forklift Truck Licence (essential).
• Previous experience operating a Counterbalance FLT.
• A strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
• Reliable, punctual and safety-conscious.
• Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
• Comfortable working outdoors in a busy yard environment.
• Warehouse, yard, builders’ merchants or logistics experience is beneficial but not essential.
