We are recruiting for a Branch Secretary / officer, to work for a trade union.

You will be expected to work across ESNEFT sites as needed, mostly Colchester General Hospital and Suffolk hospitals.

Duties and responsibilities

  • You will be directly responsible for the day to day running of the Branch office.
  • This role is secretarial support, including development of effective systems to support efficient running of the branch.
  • Administrative support, including, but not limited to: ordering supplies, filing, collating data.
  • Manage branch email inbox and being first point of contact for the union.
  • Maintaining personal records and compliance with GDPR.
  • Process member applications and verify membership of existing members.
  • Support all members by acting as a first point of contact and respond to email and phone enquiries.
  • Co-ordinate attendance at conferences, meetings, training events and make any necessary travel/accommodation arrangements.
  • Administrative support for meetings; including sending invitations, preparing documents, and typing minutes.
  • Supporting promotion and recruitment for UNISON campaigns.
  • Support with health and safety compliance and training for activists.

Personal specification

  • Must have a good understanding of trade unions and experience in a similar role is desirable.
  • Experience in an administrative role is essential.
  • Minimum of 5 GCSES or equivalent at Grade 9 to 4/A* to C
  • Excellent IT skills is essential– CaseWeb and WARMS experience is desirable.
  • Driving license and access to a car.
  • Must have strong administrative skills and the ability to provide support across all areas of the branch, where needed.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and communicate effectively.

Benefits

  • £11.23 per hour
  • Working hours are flexible 20 -25hours per week.
  • 3 month initial trial period – temporary to permanent
  • Working at Colchester General Hospital and Suffolk Hospitals, however maybe working from home may be required depending on government guidelines and the needs of the service.
