Driver Hire Taunton & Bridgwater are seeking to recruit an experienced Class 2 driver to support out new contract based from Martock, Somerset. Our client operates a large nursery in Martock growing £3 million of garden plants that are sold through their Devon based horticultural garden centre businesses. We seek an experienced HGV 2 driver to deliver their garden plants and dry goods between their nurseries and garden centres. The position is offered on a temporary basis with the potential to become a Full time role within the company for the right candidate.
Key responsibilities are:
- Deliver their garden plants and dry goods between our nurseries and garden centres in Plymouth, Newton Abbot and Exeter from Martock
- Driving their company lorries between Yeovil, Exeter, Newton Abbot and Plymouth making deliveries and collections as required each week in line with transport legislation
- Carrying out all paperwork accurately for each delivery & garden centre
- To do daily vehicle checks and report any defects to the duty manager
- Carry out all duties in line with expected procedures and policies (Full training provided)
As an Experienced Class 2 / Cat C driver, you will have:
- A valid UK Cat C licence
- An up to date driver CPC qualification and digital tacho
- Ideally a clean licence although minor offences up to 3 points will be accepted
- Able to work some weekends and Bank Holidays during peak seasons
- Car owner – Their nursery is located on the outskirts of Yeovil and there is limited public transport
- Interest in working on a horticultural nursery
Hours of Work & Pay
- Monday to Friday at peak trading times Saturday and Sundays / bank holidays must worked by rota.
- 35 hours to 45 hours per week – early starts would be required most days – starting from 6am to 8am
- Holiday is pro rata based on hours worked – approx. 28 days
- The role will be supported with full training by one of their HGV drivers
- Hourly pay rate £10.50 per hour (PAYE)
- Pension offered after qualifying period
