Job details
We are looking for a Buyer with a background in buying electronics and metalwork, within an electronic manufacturing / engineering company. To work for a family-owned company, in Lewes. The post-holder will report to the Purchasing Manager, and will have the necessary experience to interpret the ERP system and place purchase orders to meet the delivery dates and needs of the business.
- 40 hours per week
- Monday to Friday, flexible start/finish times (7.00-7.30 am to 3.30-4.00 pm)
Key requirements:
- Background in working for an electronic manufacturing/engineering company
- Ability to read technical drawing
- Experience of working with ERP systems
- Excellent communicator, able to communicate instructions
- Ability to work independently and under own initiative
- Flexible, positive and proactive approach
Responsibilities:
- Place purchase and expedite orders to fulfil MRP and project demand
- Maintain MRP part and purchase order information
- Ensure invoice queries are resolved so payment can be released in line with agreed terms
- Liaise effectively with other key departments – R&D, Sales, Stores and accounts
- Visit, establish and build good working relationships with suppliers
- Conduct audits as required
- Identify and source alternative components
- Verify bill of materials details are correct, highlighting discrepancies to senior management, with any new workflows entered onto ERP system
- Regular review of production shortages and overdue purchase orders
Preferred skills:
- Leadership – set a high standard of positivity, professionalism and work ethic
- Excellent standards of written and verbal communication
- Computer literate, able to create & maintain MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents
- Understanding of engineering drawings
- Good organisational skills and a practical approach
- Experience of using ERP system
Desirable skills:
- Experience working with Microsoft SharePoint and Dynamics365
- Experience of electronic procurement
- Experience of working within cross functional teams

- Annual salary range £30,000 to £40,000 p.a. depending on experience,
