Training and Development
We recognise that career progression is a vital part of professional growth. We’re committed to giving you the training you’ll need to do your job, and to develop your skills for the future.
We have invested in a number of training and development courses. We provide a mix of third party and in-house training to help you excel and develop your knowledge and skills in different areas of expertise. Some of our courses to date include the following:

• Presentation Masterclass
• MS Excel – Intermediate
• Conflict management
We are also building a Personal Development Library, with books that staff request for work-related topics purchased for them and then held centrally for all to use.
Worklife balance
We know that work will be a big part of your daily life, but we want all our employees to have a good work/personal life balance. We have introduced an additional employee benefit this year, giving everyone in the company an extra day off for their birthday.
Also, we have flexible working hours to meet the needs of our employees and some roles, the opportunity to work from home. Our commitment to ‘Giving Something Back’ is also helpful in this area.
Incentive schemes
We’re pleased to say that all employees of Driver Hire have the opportunity to earn an additional bonus – on a monthly or quarterly basis – on top of their salary once they pass their probationary period.
Your bonus will depend on your role. You may have a target sales bonus structure in place to help you increase your earnings on top of your base salary. For for non-sales related roles, you will be eligible to join our turnover bonus scheme.
Socialising
We have a great social culture and motto at Driver Hire – ‘work hard and play hard!’ There are lots of staff nights out organised to get involved in from social drinks, lunches and dinners for those of you who are foodies.
Every year we hold an annual staff conference which is a good opportunity to meet and speak with people from across the business nationwide, plus hear about the latest company news. Afterwards there’s always a formal dinner for all staff, which is an excellent night.
Giving something back
As a successful business, we feel it’s important to give something back to the communities we live and work in. We regularly participate in charitable fundraising activities for a range of good causes, and operate two volunteering programmes. Both schemes allow staff to directly support good causes with their time, whilst still being paid.
Our established company scheme supports a range of projects, from decorating & gardening in community centres to an innovative careers partnership with Dixons City Academy in Bradford. Our new ‘Personal Volunteering’ scheme extends the same principle so that staff can choose to take an extra paid day off to support a good cause that really matters to them personally.
