Class 1 HGV Nights

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Class 1 HGV driver.

A minimum of 2 years Class 1 HGV driving experience is essential for this role.

Job Title: Class 1 HGV Driver (C+E) – Double Decker Trunking

Location: DE55 – Alfreton
Rates: £15.75 – £22.95 per hour
Shifts: Nights

Rates of Pay:

Basic: £17.65 per hour (including holiday pay) – £15.75 per hour (PAYE)

Overtime: £21.18 per hour (including holiday pay) – £18.90 per hour (PAYE)

Nights: £22.95 per hour (including holiday pay) – £20.48 per hour (PAYE)

Driver Hire is currently recruiting experienced Class 1 HGV (C+E) drivers for a well-established and respected client in the pharmaceuticals logistics sector. This is an excellent opportunity for professional drivers seeking ongoing trunking work with consistent hours and minimal manual handling.

The Role:

• Trunking work using double decker trailers between pharmaceutical distribution centres and regional depots.

• No handballing – clean, secure, temperature-controlled loads.

• Routes planned in advance, with support from dedicated transport coordinators.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safely operate Class 1 vehicle with double decker trailer in line with all Drivers Hours, WTD, and company regulations.

• Ensure temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical goods are handled in line with GDP (Good Distribution Practice).

• Complete pre- and post-trip vehicle checks, and report any defects immediately.

• Accurately complete delivery notes and logbooks.

• Communicate clearly and professionally with transport teams.

Requirements:

• Valid UK Class 1 (C+E) HGV Licence

• Valid Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card

• Minimum 2 years’ experience driving Class 1 vehicles (preferably with double decker trailer experience)

• Clean licence or no major endorsements (no DR, DD, or IN codes, maximum of 3 points)

• This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced class 2 HGV driver.

• Previous experience in pharmaceutical or temperature-controlled logistics is highly desirable

• Strong understanding of safe load handling, secure parking, and compliance with GDP standards

• Must be flexible and reliable
