The Vehicle Operator Standards Agency (VOSA) reports that 85% of all defects found in roadside inspections could have been avoided if the driver had completed their daily walk around check correctly. This problem has reached unacceptable levels and demonstrates the need for fast and effective training for the sector.
In response to this need, Driver Hire has developed an online course designed to provide learners with an increased understanding of how to carry out an effective daily walk around check of a vehicle. On completion of the course learners will understand the importance of these checks and the features which need to be checked on both the outside and inside of the vehicle, as well as the actions to take if any defects are identified. Carrying out the daily walk around check correctly not only improves driver safety and the safety of other road users but also helps drivers and operators demonstrate compliance by lowering the risk of being issued with a Prohibition Notice during a roadside check, thus improving their profile and operator rating with VOSA.
