The Sting

French transport and logistics giant, Norbert Dentressangle, has linked up with legends of the UK high street, Marks & Spencer (M&S), on what must be the most unusual logistics exercise for a while.
The two companies are furthering their green credentials by installing bee hives at three UK sites operated by Dentressangle for M&S. To ensure that the 36,000 bees at each site stay in buzzingly brilliant form, staff at each of the sites have been trained in bee care.
According to the press release on Dentressangle’s website, for a whole host of reasons the worldwide bee population is in serious decline. This is serious news for all of us, because bees perform a crucial role in maintaining the balance in the natural environment and food chain. Without them, our ability to produce food to feed the world’s burgeoning population would be seriously dented. Hence, what Dentressangle have christened – with typical French flair – Plan B.
We are reliably informed that Dentressangle have sufficient holiday cover within their trained bee-keeping team to prevent any need for temps. That will, no doubt, be welcome news for agency staff across the UK!
