Having a clear and organised plan for your Driver CPC training can help protect your Operators Licence should – heaven forbid – your business find itself in the dock at a Public Inquiry. That's the message coming from Scottish Traffic Commissioner (TC), Joan Aitken, who is the lead Commissioner on Driver CPC.
Two recent cases confirm this. In one, a plant hire and demolition contractor avoided losing its operators licence because its drivers had completed their Driver CPC training
. However, in another, a freight operator had its licence suspended until it could prove that all its drivers had completed seven hours of Driver CPC training
covering, in particular, daily walk-round checks.
“These cases highlight the ever increasing importance of Driver CPC,” says Richard Armitage, Driver Hire's Director of Training. “Two of our Driver CPC courses
cover walkaround checks and another has a section on what happens at a VOSA roadside check. All our Driver CPC courses are tailored to add value to any business with a transport operation. They help improve efficiency and ensure drivers are aware of current industry legislation and what's expected of them as a professional driver.”
