Delifresh Fuel First

Whilst the pence per litre price of diesel has come down from its March peak, at a current average price across the UK of 112.51p, it’s still mighty expensive, accounting for around a third of the cost of running a transport operation. So whether you’re running a small fleet or a large one, any savings on fuel will have a major impact on your bottom line.
And that’s what Driver Hire’s eFED training is all about. “Our online training course in safe and fuel efficient driving can be delivered whenever and wherever it’s most convenient,” says Sophie Mason, Commercial Development Manager, e-services. That’s a big plus for employers in an industry where tight deadlines are the norm and releasing drivers for training can be difficult.”
Bradford-based Delifresh is one of Driver Hire’s first customers to put all its 35 drivers through eFED training. The company has two depots and provides a bespoke fresh food delivery service to kitchens at leading hotels and restaurants across the UK.
“We initially went to Driver Hire’s Bradford office for help with Driver CPC training,” says Transport Manager, Mark Haywood.
“So when we decided to introduce fuel efficient driving they were our first port of call. Government figures have shown that savings of 10% are readily achievable. We’ll be monitoring our drivers to see if they can match – or hopefully – better that figure.”
The online course delivers measurable results using pre and post assessments. There's also a learning management system allowing employers to keep track of exactly what training has taken place. eFED also allows drivers to revisit the training at any time for a whole year at no additional cost.
“Training is received much better when it's delivered in an enjoyable way,” Sophie continues. “That's been our aim with our new training product. And, of course, it's delivering real value for money because the savings made can be significant.”
