Driver Hire is part of the Specialist People Services Group. The first Driver Hire office opened in West Yorkshire in 1983, initially supplying temporary drivers to local transport firms. Since then, we’ve grown to become the UK and Ireland’s largest specialist supplier of drivers and non driving staff to the transport and logistics industry.

Today, Driver Hire is much more than just a supplier of last minute lorry drivers. With over 30 years of experience and a nationwide network of over 100 Driver Hire offices throughout the UK and Ireland, we offer a full range of recruitment services – temporary and permanent positions, driving work and logistics jobs.

Our franchise network

The original Driver Hire concept was so successful that in 1987 the company started to offer franchise opportunities, with the first franchised office opening in Newcastle later that year. The business then grew rapidly, and today we have a nationwide network of over 100 Driver Hire offices, with the vast majority of these owned and operated by franchisee business partners.

Award-winning standards

It’s no coincidence that Driver Hire staff win so many awards. For each of the last four years (2005-2008) a Driver Hire driver has been named REC Agency Driver of the Year, and in 2008 our driver Colin Ramsden was named One in a Million – the UK’s top temp across all sectors. These awards are great achievements for the individuals concerned and also bear testament to the rigorous quality and selection processes employed by every Driver Hire office. Our commitment to quality and service is underpinned by our ISO 9001 and Investors in People accreditation.

Driver Hire was one of the pioneers of franchising in the UK, and we remain committed to the concept. Indeed, in 2006 we were named the British Franchise Association’s ‘Franchisor of the Year’. We were finalists again in 2007 and 2008. In 2004 one of our franchisees was named bfa ‘Franchisee of the Year’.
