Equal Rights For Temporary Workers

 
 
The Agency Workers Regulations (AWR) came into force on 1st October 2011. Their main purpose is to give temps the same basic employment conditions as the permanent members of staff they work alongside, in comparable roles.

“Entitlement to some of the rights is immediate – from ‘Day One’ of an assignment,” explains Jeremy Neale, who’s headed Driver Hire’s AWR team. “Other rights are applicable after you’ve completed a 12-week qualifying period.”
 
 
 
 
 
“The 12-week qualifying period applies irrespective of how many hours/days you work each week,” Jeremy continues. “It’s just a question of being with the same hirer in the same role – even if it’s only for one day a week.
