Dangerous Drivers face 5 Years in Jail

Drivers found guilty of causing injury by dangerous driving could find themselves facing a five year jail sentence and an obligatory driving ban when a new law is introduced this year. According to the law, a person is driving dangerously if their standard of driving falls far below what would be expected of a competent and careful driver. Examples of dangerous driving include excessive speed, disregarding traffic signals and driving without sufficient sleep.
