All Set For the CPC?

The Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) is a legal obligation for LGV drivers as of 10th September 2009.
All drivers with a category C, C1 and C+E licence which is used for vocational purposes, must now complete 35 hours’ training before 10th September 2014.
Driver Hire is keen to help our drivers and our customers meet the new requirements. To facilitate this, all Driver Hire offices will be given the opportunity to become training centres, enabling them to offer CPC training. Commenting on the development, Richard Armitage, Driver Hire’s Head of Training said: “The Driver CPC is a commendable initiative. It creates a recognised professional standard for goods vehicle drivers – something their skills have long deserved. Driver Hire will be offering training to enable them to meet the requirements of the new law. Whilst existing HGV drivers have five years to complete the required training, our recommendation is to start straightaway.”
