Record trading brings New Year resolution

Driver Hire ended 2013 with a real flourish. Bumper trading resulted in their 100-office nationwide network achieving four all-time record weeks during December. Its record breaking performance was boosted by online shopping and demand from major national businesses all of whom needed the flexibility of agency staff to help them beat Christmas delivery deadlines.

Online orders rush at ChristmasThat was certainly the experience of Sukhi Minhas, owner of Driver Hire’s office in North London. “We broke my office’s all time record weekly turnover twice in December,” says Sukhi. “In addition to our regular clients, we were supplying around 20 goods vehicle drivers a day to one of the UK’s major letter and parcel delivery businesses. My team were working seven days a week to find the drivers they needed. Judging by the results from across the rest of the network, a lot of offices have been experiencing similar levels of customer demand.”

Chris Chidley, Driver Hire’s Chief Executive, added: “This is a great way to celebrate our 30th year in business. Trading was already well ahead of 2012/13 before we entered the key Christmas trading period. Our success during December was undoubtedly assisted by online shopping all of which has to be delivered by parcel delivery companies. They clearly turned to Driver Hire for extra staff. We’re now well placed to achieve all time record trading at the end of our financial year in March.”
