New office opens in Darlington
Driver Hire’s newest franchisee is Lisa Fleming, who has opened a new office in Darlington.
Lisa has plenty of experience in road transport. Before deciding to purchase Driver Hire Darlington she ran a transport business in Bishop Auckland, delivering goods to customers of a major high street retailer throughout the North East and Cumbria. Her husband has picked up the reins for this business so Lisa can concentrate on her new venture.
“I used to make use of agency drivers in my transport business,” says Lisa. “Some were better than others and this got me thinking about a niche in the market – an agency that supplied drivers I knew I could rely on. Then I came across Driver Hire. They have an excellent reputation for providing quality drivers and delivering round the clock service. Rather than setting up my own business from scratch, it made sense to buy into their expertise, their systems and their 25 years’ experience as a specialist recruiter."
Lisa looks to have timed her new business start-up to perfection. Research recently conducted by RBS/Nat West Bank has shown that franchise businesses have proved to be very resilient during the recession, with nine out of ten remaining profitable. Indeed, during 2009, whilst the UK economy contracted by 2.8%, the franchise industry grew by 3.4%*
