Driver Hire nominated for national workplace award

It’s official! Driver Hire is a great place to work. It’s just been nominated as a finalist in the 2017 REC (Recruitment & Employment Confederation) Institute for Recruitment Professionals ‘Best Place to Work’ category.

This isn’t the first time Driver Hire’s positive workplace culture has been recognised, having already been named as one of the UK’s Best Workplaces in the 2017 Great Place To Work® listings.

To make the finals, Driver Hire had to demonstrate how employees’ skills are developed and maintained and how employees are actively involved in the development of the company’s business strategy. It also had to give an outline of Driver Hire’s vision and values and how they drive business activity.

Michael Dawson, Finance Director – Logistics Division, is just one example of the way Driver Hire develops the skills of its employees. “I joined as a trainee in 1996,” says Michael. “The Finance Director both encouraged and supported me to become a qualified accountant. As a result I was promoted to Finance Manager in 2005, then Financial Planning and Analysis Manager in 2014 before moving to my current role earlier this year. There’s no doubt that Driver Hire is a great place to work. That’s why I’ve been here for over 20 years!”

Commenting on Driver Hire’s success, Chief Executive Chris Chidley said: “It’s further confirmation of the strength of our workplace culture. For the past three years we have conducted an employee survey. The results have been exceptionally positive. In our latest, 93% of our staff said they were proud to work for Driver Hire. I think that speaks volumes about the positive working environment we’ve created and is reflected in our growing business success.”
