A business boost courtesy of the Olympic Games put Driver Hire East London on top of the podium last month – winning our ‘Office of the Month’ by a clear margin.
“Having the Games right on their doorstep provided a fabulous opportunity for Richard Pugh and his team,” says Tony Goacher, Driver Hire’s Network Development Director. “Having said that, making most of it involved months of preparation and hard work.”
And, ‘make the most of it’, they most certainly did – topping the leaderboard for the entire network in terms of shifts supplied and setting several new ‘personal best’ records for the office in the process.
During the build-up to the Games, the office processed over 500 candidate applications and recruited 70 new staff. During the big event they supplied drivers to Olympic teams and media crews from Brazil, Canada and Japan. To ensure a strong corporate identity was maintained, the office supplied their team of temps with Driver Hire uniforms and even produced Driver Hire branded chocolates.
Nor was their more traditional business forgotten about. Franchisee Richard, along with colleagues, Sonia, Sandra and Jenny also found time to win new business with several non-Olympic related clients.
“This was a truly outstanding performance,” Tony continues. “But perhaps their success is best summed up by the following comments from Kitty Balieiro, Project Manager for Brazilian TV sports channel, ESPN:
“All the drivers you selected were very friendly and very professional. They soon became part of the team and we will miss them. You did a good job and I’d recommend your company to anyone in need of this type of work. I hope to work with you again.”
Richard and his team will soon receive their fourth Excellence trophy, a magnum of champagne and 1,000 Excellence points to spend on a great range of prizes.
