Borders office is a winning team
Driver Hire's Galashiels office, in the Scottish Borders, has won the prestigious 2010 Scottish Recruitment ‘Best Small Recruitment Team Award’. Celebrating excellence in Scottish recruitment, the awards were presented at a gala dinner held at Glasgow’s Hilton Hotel on Thursday 10th June.
The judges were looking at entrants’ key developments and achievements over the past year. They were also looking for evidence of best recruitment practice as well as strategies to attract, retain and develop their people. And, of course, how all this translates into business success.
Driver Hire Borders scored highly in all these areas. What particularly impressed the judges was the team’s ability to deliver an outstanding business performance in an area that’s been particularly hard hit by the recession.
Driver Hire Borders has a pool of approximately 100 temporary workers which they supply to a wide variety of local businesses in both the public and private sector. The office finished 2008/09 as one of Driver Hire’s top twenty-five performers. This level of achievement has continued into the new financial year with the office’s turnover 30% ahead of this time last year.
Driver Hire Borders is owned by Wilson Gibb Management Ltd who own and operate seven Driver Hire offices in Scotland and the North of England. It is managed by Russell Lavens who collected the award. Commenting on the office’s success he said: “The past year has been a hard year, but it was fun -- and an enjoyable challenge. It’s great to have all the hard work put in by my colleagues Vicki Newton and Craig Pinnons recognised. I’d also like to thank Area Manager Dean Hewitt and Wilson Gibb Management for their support.”
