Blunkett does the honours

Driver Hire Sheffield welcomed a very special visitor to officially open their new office recently – David Blunkett, the former Home Secretary and MP for Sheffield Brightside and Hillsborough. The office, which is owned by Robert Leek and Ian Leadbeater, has moved to smart new premises in the SOAR Works Enterprise Centre in Parson Cross, a Sheffield suburb.
“The SOAR Works Centre is a social enterprise offering affordable quality workspace to a wide variety of businesses,“ says Robert Leek. “The aim is that it will bring jobs into the area, creating a sustainable local economy. As a recruitment company we’re an essential part of that process, hence our decision to move here. One of our drivers is a local councillor and former Sheffield Lord Mayor. He suggested we contact Mr Blunkett’s office and ask him if he’d do us the honour of officially opening our office. Obviously we’re delighted that he recognises the importance of our work and took the time out of his busy schedule to be with us.”
Mr Blunkett added: "Parson Cross has undergone a major £10 million facelift over the past ten years. At its heart is the brand new SOAR Works Enterprise Centre which, already, is an exciting and vibrant example of what commerce and industry and, ultimately, jobs, bring to an area. I am very pleased that Driver Hire –a leading national recruitment specialist – has seen the potential to grow their business here and made Parson Cross their new home. I wish them every success."
