Transport opportunities on the rise

A report that suggested private sector jobs are on the increase has named transport and logistics as one of the fastest-growing industries.
The report, published by an independent recruitment firm, has suggested that, despite public sector work halving in the last year, the private sector has increased enough to cover the losses and logistics companies' jobs are leading the charge.
Employer demand has risen by 26 per cent across the board, it suggested, although some sectors have seen a rise of closer to 50 per cent, with transport and logistics, engineering, strategy and consultancy faring the best.
The growth was evident all across the whole of the UK, although East Anglia, London, the South West, Yorkshire, the West Midlands and Humberside all saw the biggest increases. It is thought this increase in private sector job opportunities could help those worried about job security within the public sector.
Industry expert, Martin Warnes, told The Independent: "Employers right across the private sector are showing their confidence by recruiting new staff, at a time when high competition for new jobs is still keeping a cap on salaries."
He went on to tell Fresh Business Thinking: "UK employers are still in job-creation mode, with 26 per cent more new jobs on offer now compared to a year ago."
